It's the same old principle to remember when reading these studies. As long as you like something it is good for you. Gardening was shown to have positive effects on heart functions and depression. Except that if you hate gardening and are coerced into it against your will, it will have a negative effect.

It seems like this is no mistery, but many forget this principle. For example parents who think music is good for their children regardless of whether they like making music or would rather do something else. It's motivation, joy, self-determination that cause the positive effect. Without these music would have no positive effect, not even those correlated with the intelligence stimulating effects of counting notes, keeping a steady rhythm and trying to be musical.
