Fingers: I'm still on the fence. It depends whether I have a piece ready to play. I'll know better later in the week. You don't mind being guinea pigs, do you? Anyway, please send address. If I come, I could catch a ride up with someone. Sorry to be so indefinite.

Joe, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we don't mind being guinea pigs. It would be an honor and a privilege just to have you play anything- even chop sticks. In all keys of course. Regards, fingers

Uh-oh. Only 4 more days. Oh-boy. I really should hurry up and get a piano already. Are their any dealers in the house?

Pete,
No Costcos nearby, but the good folks over at Home Depot are willing to sell me the lumber, glue, metal and whatever else I may need to build it from scratch. It can't be that difficult, could it?

Joe- Bring it, PLEASE!!!!
Pete- When I asked the Home Depot folks if they sold tuning hammers inorder to install/tune the strings, I was told it wasn't needed; locking vice-grip pliers would be fine.
This could be the start of a new career for me.

Sorry, folks, I don't think I'll be coming either. The piece I'd been hoping to play for just isn't ready, and that means my time is best spent here practicing some more. It's for a concert in mid-July, and I need to play it for the composer (Lukas Foss) around the 1st or 2nd.
I'll miss seeing you and listening to you all again. There'll be another chance soon enough, I hope.

Well, I'm going to nip this string of bad news in the bud.
I'm definitely coming! Bootsy and I are going to do a four hand Ravel piece, Habanera from the Rhapsody Espagnole. (We read through it once, rather abysmally - but we've each practiced our part since then!)
Jeffrey, Joe - sorry we'll miss you. Hopefully you'll make the next one!

Fingers - if you could email me your address. I'm just back in the country. Not practiced in two out of the last 3 wks, but wouldn't miss the opportunity to see your piano!
Thanks!

I would like to report that I had a terrific time. Thank you Fingers and Jane for your hospitality. The piano playing was ......well I'm out of adjectives. How about simply great? Bootsy, Jon, Grotriman, Fingers' friend, Jerry, all amazing. I am going to practice more so I can be one tenth as proficient as you guys. And what a pleasure meeting Linda in PA. Sorry, there were some more guests whose names, but not faces, I am forgetting. And what a beautiful setting, and a magnificent looking and sounding piano. Thank you.

I am SO sorry I could not make it, but it's settled right here and now... There will have to be more Westchester parties! Like... there's no question about it!
I have to admit that sometimes the conflicting pulls can be quite a tug-of-war. We (Brooklyn Accent) presented our end-of-season concert today--an event I didn't realize conflicted with fingers' party until well into the plans. We presented a tenor, baritone and four sopranos in a concert of "Summer Voices". I am happy to report that it was a success. I am sad to acknowledge that I missed fingers' party.
Fingers: Please have another party. ?
I'm sure it was fabulous and I've heard (that's right! I've already heard!) that you have a beautiful rebuilt Steinway from the late 1800s. Oh, I'm sorry I missed it.
If it means anything... I spent the afternoon crying. (The human voice always does that to me.)
So, we're waiting for more reports...

Great party Fingers! Wonderful Piano. Wow. This is a Steinway that "plays like buttah". First time I've felt the agility in the steinway action that I so love. And don't find on many new ones. But perhaps this has to do with the fact that the piano has an older heritage.
What a gorgeous piano too. Nice bottom end...
I have pix. You guys should have heard Bootsy and Jon-nyc doing the Ravel (Habanera?) duet. Quite the intimate poses are necessary. I thought I brought my camera memory to work, but I didn't so I'll post some pix tonight.

Hey - i'm going to start a new thread for post-party reports and photos. I always hate wading through the pre-party invites, comments, logistics, etc. to find the photos. Please add reports and photos HERE: http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/22/74.html
