I'm offering my place for a party at the end of July or beginning of August. I'm in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (directly across the river from midtown).

FWIW - I would have suggested pushing it out a bit further, like the end of August, since we just had one last week. Of course, I'm a social guy and Greenpoint is 10 minutes away on the G, so I'll go whenever. My concern is more for those (with kids) whose spouses may not appreciate being left alone one Sunday out of four. (the names Bootsy and Grotriman come to mind)

I'll do my best to visit Bernard's any time he invites me, although jon-nyc is right about the spouses, the weekend childcare issue, and timing in general for us parents of smaller children. However, I think that it's OK for some of us to sometimes miss a session, with regrets. In any case, I'd hope that I too could get away for a few hours on the last weekend in July, and I couldn't yet predict dates for our long-overdue whole-family vacation, vaguely scheduled for late August.

Bernard, we are driving home the weekend of Aug 27-28 from Delaware! We could always make a pit stop, drop the kids at my sister's in NJ and head to beautiful Brooklyn!

Any Sunday works for me that has been offered, but as soon as you decide, post it and set it in stone so I can request off work. My boss makes the schedule about 2 weeks in advance, so the sooner, the better.

I would suggest calling a car service to pick you up from Penn Station and bring you to Bernard's place, because typically they wind up being cheaper. You can probably get to his place for around $25-30. I plan on taking a car service from Queens because the reliability of the G train that goes to Brooklyn is horrendous. Bernard took a car service home from my place when I had the party last fall and I think it cost him around $20 which he split 3 ways (BeeLady and Kenny).

Anyway, hope this helps.

Actually, it will be cheaper to take a taxi. From Penn Sta. it won't cost more than $20 + tip.

On the other hand, if you want me to arrange for a car service from my neighborhood to pick you up, you won't have to worry about giving directions to the cab driver. You could let me know when to send the car for you. Let me know.
