Question:

If I host it, will they come?

Anyone interested /able to make it to westchester for a piano party?

The ny city parties were outstanding and I would like to recipricate. Problem is, some people don't drive or are unable to take the Metro-North train.

I'm in the Katonah/Bedford area.

Feedback or suggestions ????

Thanks,

fingers

I'll be there if you're withing walking distance of Metro-North. I don't drive and rely on public transport.

Bernard,

Fantastic!

No need to walk. It's only a 3 minute drive and I can provide round trip transportation for you and anyone else.

Thanks,

fingers

I could definitely go...The NYC parties were too far for me, unfortunately, but I'm only about a half hour from you. smile

Elssa,

BTW, there is a great jazz tune entitled "ELSA", written by Earl Zindars and recorded by Bill Evans.

Fingers - I'd make it too, if you could provide transport for that 'last mile'. I'm sure several of us city folk would coordinate and get on the same train.

I think suburbanites should get their chance to host, but it may present more of a problem for other suburbanites than for city folks. For someone who lives out in Long Island or a few exits into Jersey getting up to, say, Fairfield is a pretty big pain. (and vice-versa)

Maybe the right balance would be to hold, say, 3 of every 4 in the city with the 4th one in a burb somewhere.

Having said that, I'm in ! Whats the date??

jon-nyc,

The "last mile" is no problem. Yeah, I know, that's what they all say.

I agree that the majority of the parties ought to be held in the city (proper). The burbs can be fun though, every now and then.

I was thinking of June 26.

How does that sound?

Regards,
fingers

I don't know if I would make it up there. From Staten Island, Westchester seems a world away.

At the end of Jon's recent party, there was some discussion of having a piano party at my place in late June, so does that represent a conflict?

Should I do mine later? Late June would be kinda good because I could get the beast tuned just prior to the event. Otherwise it'll go at least another month without a tuning, which it needs.

OK fellas, no need to fight. We're all friends here.

I don't have to host. Yes I would like to, but not at the expense of others.

For me, the pleasure of attending a piano party far outweighs the inconvenience, if any, required to get there.

Long Island, Staten Island, or Gilligan's Island, if one really wants to, one can find the way.

Adios,

fingers

I'm definitely in if we do it on Gilligan's Island, I've always had this thing for Maryann. laugh laugh

Seriously, though, IIRC, Fingers proposed hosting the next one on a thread in PW a couple of weeks before my party.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, why don't you, Fingers, keep the June 26th date since you threw it out and it works for people, and why doesn't Realplayer do one in early August? (since people seem to like the every-6-weeks-or-so timeframe)

Joe - it'll take you a few weeks to schedule MM, and I'm sure if you tune your piano sometime in June it'll still be in good shape 6-8 weeks later.

How does that sound, everyone????

Oh, I didn't realize Fingers had proposed having the next party some time ago. There I go stepping on people's toes (Fingers?) again.

It is not important to me to host the next one. It can happen some other time; in June there was just a nice confluence of getting the piano tuned and having the time to do it.

It probably won't be August though, because I'll be in manic practice mode for mid-August concerts. So we'll do it at my place in September or beyond.

Oh boy!

Be careful what you wish for , you might get it.

I guess it's official that I'll host at my home on 6/26 . Now I have only a little over a month to run out and actually get a house and a piano. eek

Joe- your'e a class act. I look foward to a party at your place anytime!

jon-nyc- I, too, always preferred Maryann to Ginger. But now that I'm 40ish, Mrs. Howell isn't looking all that bad. :b:

Regards and thanks,
fingers smile
