Calling all Southern California Piano World Members and Music lovers!

The Third Annual Bodacious Piano Party Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, January 22nd, 6 pm at the lovely home of member Jackie Ashman in San Juan Capistrano. Some of you may be aware she is the proud owner of a Petrof grand.

This year, our special Guest of Honor is our own webmaster, Frank Baxter!

Please join us! Share piano music and great food (it's pot-luck!). Meet new friends! Encounter familiar ones! And come meet Frank. He will be coming directly from the NAMM Convention to attend.

Our invitation is also for the many vendors, dealers and other professionals who are expected to attend NAMM. Get away from Anaheim and come down to SJC to party! [Hi Norbert!]

The traditional highlight of our parties is the Piano Pile-up under the piano.

BTW my former obligation is my Piano Teacher's Annual Student Recital earlier that same evening.
About 10 students take turns at getting vibrato out of a Steinway D.

Yes, yes, yes! Bring your student colleagues and your teacher along. They are a superlative group!

I've noticed that the party tends to go in waves, with groups entering/exiting throughout the course of the evening. Your group would be the third wave, I reckon!

I just got back from 6 days in southern Florida (a gift from my sister). It averaged 80 degrees and sunny the whole time.
Came back to ice and snow.

Was looking forward to some more sun and warmth.

We are having days and days of rain at the moment.

As of today, meteorologists are predicting Santa Ana conditions -- warm, and very dry -- by the time NAMM rolls around.

Fine conditions to party by!

BTW, how are all you Capistranians faring with the rains. Are any of you affected by the mudslides I've seen on TV? Seen some horrific video clips, and thought of you guys right away. Hope all is well...

We're drying out. Finally. We even had some rain last night. Ugh! San Juan Creek threatened to overflow (downstream from me, closer to the beach), and I saw all sorts of helicopters yesterday morning hovering near my foster kid's school, but I don't think it did. I guess there was some sort of voluntary evacuation. The authorities were just being cautious.

It's sparkling from the wetness and the sun is shining. Finally! But it's unseasonably chilly -- perhaps like an early autumn day in your area.

It will be good not to see any more overturned cars on the roads. It was becoming a daily sighting.

Hello all-

I spoke with Jackie this week. For some reason, I knew she owned a lovely Petrof piano. I have a function Saturday evening but am ditching it to finally meet some of you guys. The curiosity is killing me.

I'm looking forward to it...and even more forward to meeting a family who would open their home to a bunch of "potential" internet psychos.

I just got word for the local Dialysis clinic where I'll be going, and got confirmations on my times (finally...).

It look like....

I know I know... not that exciting.

I hope it's ok that I will be empty handed.
I mean, I could always pick up some KFC on the way, but with Joy preparing dumplings I think it might get me kicked out!

Anyway, I'm leaving here in a few short hours... I'll plan on seeing you all Saturday!

Don't worry about not bringing anything--we don't expect a thing from anybody coming from out of town...we're just glad that you'll be able to make it...see you then!

Any chance anyone attending the party is coming from somewhere near the convention?

I'd rather not rent a car and get lost if I can avoid it.

Let me know if nothing comes up.
I might be able to get you there (could probably pick you up on my way there from dialysis), but afterwards I'll be heading to the airport to pick up my wife, so I won't be heading back this way for a bit.

Anyway.... let me know if getting you there is helpful, or if nothing else comes up. I'll do whatever I can

I'll be at a meeting in LA which gets out at 3:30, and I'll be driving south to the party after that, stopping in Laguna Woods on the way down to pick up a dessert. I have to leave about 8:15, though, to catch a flight back to Chicago. I could pick you up on my way south if you want. I'll PM you my cell phone number, and I check my e-mail several times a day.
