Mason & Hamlin Piano Factory Tour - 2006 Tuesday May 2, 2006 [/b] Pictures of 2006 tour[/b] posted HERE I need... Forums name, Forums Member Number, Real Name, Location (City/Town, State). Also need info on your guest(s) if you are bringing any. This is a fantastic tour! Mason & Hamlin does a wonderful job of hosting, and the tour is amazing. Before we finalize the tour list, I'll need your real name, forums name, forums member number, and where you are from. Details[/b] Date:[/b] Tuesday, May 2 The tour will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. Watch this post for updates (I will probably be hanging out in the parking lot until just before start time, watching for attendees). Duration:[/b] Plan on most of the day. Pictures:[/b] Yes, you can take pictures (as long as you don't interfere with the work going on). Lunch[/b] Will be served. Usually sandwhiches, soda, chips, spring water. (if you have special dietary restrictions, let me know) Tour Size Limit:[/b] To make the PianoWorld Tour safe and enjoyable, we need to cap the attendance on the Tour to a maximum of 25 people[/b]. Attending:[/b] (the * indicates we have your information) - RedTop * - IgnorantHusband - Monster M&H * - John Citron * - rtaorm * - IrishMak + 1 * - Virginia Prescott * - Eric S * - Tony Halter * - Brenda Halter * - John Makely * - Ed Bonacci * - John Williams * - Jeremy Gloo (A441)* - Roberta Lang * - CTPianotech * - reliv4all + 1 * - Jeffo + 3 * ------------------ Total = 23 What You Will See[/b] http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/22/67.html (2005 tour) http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/22/52.html (pictures from 2004 tour) The Mason & Hamlin web site Interesting Factoid: If you search Google for Mason & Hamlin Factory Tour ... we have the top 2 slots :-) Costs[/b] There is no charge for the tour. You are responsible for your own transportation and lodging. General Information:[/b] Keep in mind you will be touring a live factory in full production mode. Lots of dangerous machinery, tools, and many people moving around. The group needs to stay together, stay out of the way of the workers, and LISTEN to what the tour director (Bruce Clark) is saying. We do a LOT of walking (and standing). Wear comforable shoes and clothes. The factory is clean (other than sawdust), but you may brush up against a piece of machinery, pile of wood etc. Our thanks to the Burgett's (owners), our own Cecil Ramirez (national sales rep), Bruce Clark (piano designer, technician, and tour moderator), and all the other fine folks at Mason & Hamlin for hosting this event. Date for the Piano World Mason & Hamlin Factory Tour is... May 2, 2006[/b]FYI, the factory is in Haverhill, MA (pronounced Heyvrill). About 45 minutes north of Boston. If any PianoWorld members would like to stay in Haverhill overnight, there is a Best Western Merrimack Valley Lodge nearby. www.bwmerrimackvalley.com This is the hotel M&H uses to accommodate their dealers (and themselves) when they host training seminars. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the factory. Mason & Hamlin Piano Company 35 Duncan St. Haverhill, MA 01830 www.masonhamlin.com Location[/b] Parking[/b] Satellite shot courtesy of Keyhole http://www.keyhole.com/ Another View (red balloon is factory, white arrow is parking). Remember, I will need your forums name, real name, and where you are from (town/city & state). If you are bringing a guest, I will need their name and where they are from as well. If your name hasn't been posted in the first post of this topic, I haven't counted you as part of the group yet. If your name is there, but you can't make it, please let me know a.s.a.p. so we can open your spot for somebody else. webmaster@pianoworld.com [subject line: Mason & Hamlin 2006 Tour] As in the past, the tour group is limited to 25 people. Please see the link at the top of the page for info about past tours. If you are attending, please bring/wear comfortable shoes, we do a LOT of walking! Pictures are allowed/encouraged. Although the factory is clean (other than sawdust), there are a lot of machines (with protrusions, and possibly grease), and a lot of people working. I will post additional details as I get them.

Frank,
I would like to add a possible guest. She is the owner of a 1907 Model AA that was inspected by the factory just before they started production.
Thanks, John

I heard from Cecil Rameriz (Natl. Sales Manager for Mason & Hamlin)... Tentative date for the Piano World Mason & Hamlin Factory Tour is... Frank,
I still plan to go, but did you look at a calendar? May 2nd is a Tuesday? A weekday tour might be hard for a lot of us to consider.
Thanks,
John

If my memory serves me right...they do that so you can see the factory in action. I believe it was on a weekday last year also..May 10, a Tuesday also.

Can anyone supply driving directions from I-95?
Also, are there any hotels in Haverhill that won't cost an arm and a leg? This stop is only part of an extended two-city vacation. So, I don't want to waste a lot of money.
Thanks.

Thanks Larry!
I'll be leaving from the Raleigh area on Monday and returning on Wednesday. After a few days at home, we'll fly out (with the kids) to San Diego for some family fun.

For those of you that are travelling to the Haverhill area and need a place to stay, there's a Comfort Suites Hotel located not too far from the factory. It is located just off Route 495 at exit 48. Route 110/113 Westgate exit. You can see a car dealership and shopping plaza at the exit. The hotel is on Bank Road behind the dealership.
Comfort Suites (978) 374-7755 (978) 521-1894 106 Bank Rd Haverhill, MA 01832
To get to the Factory from there, take a right out of the hotel, stay straight through under the railroad bridge, and take a left on to Essex Street (in the square across from the music store). Take a right on Locke Street, and a left on Dunkin. The factory is on the right hand side.
If anyone needs local directions, email me for my telephone number. I live in the city about three miles from the factory in the Riverside section.
John

They're not too expensive and not too far away from "The Factory" To get to Haverhill from Route 95 South or North: Take Route 95 to the Route 133 - Rowley/Georgetown exit. Head towards Georgetown. Watch your speed, and do EXACTLY the speed limit. At the set of lights in Georgetown center, stay straight ahead towards Groveland. This is now Route 97. Follow Route 97, it dips, twists and winds into Groveland center. Again keep an eye on your speed because the cops are waiting everywhere to ticket. Just on the other side of Groveland center, cross the bridge over the Merrimack River. You are now in Haverhill, and about a mile from my house. Keep to the left at the flashing light. There will be a shopping plaza on the left and a stadium down a bit next to a park. Stay straight at the set of lights. At the next set of lights, with a bike shop on the right, stay straight on Ginty Boulevard. At the next set of lights at Main Street, stay straight on to Bailey Boulevard. At the next set of light, stay straight on to Walnut street. Make a right on to Locust. Go up 1 block, and make a left on to Orchard Street. Stay straight through the next intersection, and the M&H factory is on your right. Email me for my telephone number if you need additional help. John

Oh...my...
Frank,
I have to cancel this portion of my trip. I am so sorry as I was really looking forward to it. It seems that I have triple-booked myself for May 2nd. Please put my name on next year's list.
Thanks, Isaac
