Is it too late to get my name (+ 1) on the list?

I heard from Cecil Rameriz (Natl. Sales Manager for Mason & Hamlin)...

Tentative date for the Piano World Mason & Hamlin Factory Tour is...
May 2

Remember,
I will need your forums name, real name, and where you are from (town/city & state).
If you are bringing a guest, I will need their name and where they are from as well.

If your name hasn't been posted in the first post of this topic, I haven't counted you as part of the group yet.

If your name is there, but you can't make it, please let me know a.s.a.p. so we can open your spot for somebody else.

webmaster@pianoworld.com [subject line: Mason & Hamlin 2006 Tour]

As in the past, the tour group is limited to 25 people.

Please see the link at the top of the page for info about past tours.
If you are attending, please bring/wear comfortable shoes, we do a LOT of walking!

Pictures are allowed/encouraged.

Although the factory is clean (other than sawdust), there are a lot of machines (with protrusions, and possibly grease), and a lot of people working.

I will post additional details as I get them.

Frank,

I still plan to go, but did you look at a calendar? May 2nd is a Tuesday? A weekday tour might be hard for a lot of us to consider.

Thanks,

John

If my memory serves me right...they do that so you can see the factory in action. I believe it was on a weekday last year also..May 10, a Tuesday also.

I would check to see if you can fly into Manchester New Hampshire to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city and the bumper to bumper stop and go traffic of Boston.

Boston to Haverhill is about 50 minutes if no traffic. With traffic you should be able to make it in oh say under 2 hours. LOL

Manchester New Hampshire to Haverhill is about the same at 45 minutes but you would have a better shot at avoiding bumper to bumper traffic.

Hi Frank
Looks like 4 from Cape Cod if you can squeeze us in. If not put us on the alternate list.
Always a great day.

Can anyone supply driving directions from I-95?

Also, are there any hotels in Haverhill that won't cost an arm and a leg? This stop is only part of an extended two-city vacation. So, I don't want to waste a lot of money.

Thanks.

From the intersection of 95/495

Take 495 S

Travel maybe 10 to 15 minutes and take rt97 toward Haverhill.

I don't remember the exact milage, maybe 2 to 3 miles and you will be going slightly downhill to a rotary.

Entering the rotary at 6 ocklock, you will exit approxamitly 11. There will be a gas station on your right.

You will go under a rail road bridge.

Very quickly you will see Duncan St on the right. Take that right. This brick mill bldg is the corner of the Mason and Hamlin factory. You will follow Duncan St along the plant, the entrance is at the far end of the bldg on the left.

BTW, where will you be before as you are heading up to the factory?

There are other ways to get to the factory, depending on your starting point.

Thanks Larry!

I'll be leaving from the Raleigh area on Monday and returning on Wednesday. After a few days at home, we'll fly out (with the kids) to San Diego for some family fun.

I Bruton,

Let me know where you will be staying. There are several ways to get to the factory. All fairly easy.

Depending on where you are staying, there may be a quicker route.

If you are staying South of the city, there is definately a better way.

For those of you that are travelling to the Haverhill area and need a place to stay, there's a Comfort Suites Hotel located not too far from the factory. It is located just off Route 495 at exit 48. Route 110/113 Westgate exit. You can see a car dealership and shopping plaza at the exit. The hotel is on Bank Road behind the dealership.

Comfort Suites

106 Bank Rd
Haverhill, MA 01832

To get to the Factory from there, take a right out of the hotel, stay straight through under the railroad bridge, and take a left on to Essex Street (in the square across from the music store). Take a right on Locke Street, and a left on Dunkin. The factory is on the right hand side.

If anyone needs local directions, email me for my telephone number. I live in the city about three miles from the factory in the Riverside section.

John

Frank,

Sorry...I have to cancel and wait for the next opportunity. Too much work project due to merger.
