Hello!

I just started using this forum, and as I become more active with posting, I'm noticing something very useful missing from these boards. If I post, or reply to a post, I can "subscribe" to the thread, but from the list that shows my "subscriptions", there is absolutely no way to tell which threads have responses. So I have to go through and click on each and every message just to see if there is a response. This is going to get very old very fast! I suppose I can use my email account to check, but it looks as though emails are not sent out immediately.

So, if that list could even simply show the last person to post in the topic, that would be very helpful!

Thanks a lot! Otherwise, the content of this forum is great!

Shoot, you are ahead of me. I've never figured out how to subscirbe to any of the threads. If I'm intersted in a topic, I basically drag it to my desktop and do the same check thing you are doing. When the thread dies back or wanders so far from the point of origin that I'm no longer interested, I just delete the short cut.

I can't imagine the amount of dollars involved with keeping a site this huge running, and running so flawlessly most of the time. So, while I would like the feature you mention, I'm OK with my own little method for keeping track of stuff.

Hi Debbie,

Hehe, yeah that took me a while too. When you post a new thread, you have to tick the checkbox that says "Email Notification". When you reply to a thread, you can NOT use the "Quick Reply" box. Instead, click the button that says "Post Reply". Then, from there, you must also tick the checkbox that says "Email Notification".

OK, that's half the battle. \:\) Then, when you want to check the status of your messages, you must click the "my profile" link at the top of the window. From there, click "Edit Topic Notifications". Voila! There's a list of your topics.

I hope this works for you. I think it will be better than your current method for one big reason. You know how sometimes even after a thread dies down, someone sends a reply like two weeks later? Well, with this method, if that happens, you'll get an email letting you know. Also, email messages are only sent out at the end of the day, so if you are keeping up with your topics, you'll never even get an email (which is nice). If you go away for a few days, all you have to do to catch up is check your email instead of clicking all those links!

Enjoy! And don't forget... no more using "Quick Reply"! \:\)

Oh, also, I just wanted to let you know... I absolutely love the quote in your sig! It's definitely one I'm going to carry with me. \:\) It says author unknown, but do you remember where you found it? Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know because that is way cool!

Dave,

Thanks for all the directions - OK, moral of forum, don't use quick reply:) I'm a fan of email notifications myself so appreciate the advice.

I have no idea where I found my signature. I try and save these things that pull at my heart. I would guess, I saw it as some one elses signature.
