Wondering what y'all recommend to use after the series are done? I mostly use Alfred, Bastien and Faber books, but they don't go very far. What do you all use after that point? I like to focus on the basics, (fingerings, rhythms and the like). Lots of the books for older kids just have pieces and not much new information to learn. thanks!

The pieces have plenty of information in them. When you teach a piece, you should also be working through some of the theory and history behind it.

There's a wealth of performance practice information to be learned in studying a Mozart or Beethoven sonata, or even Clementi sonatina.

Check out the syllabus for the new Royal American Conservatory of Music.
http://www.royalamericanconservatory.org/
It states the program follows the RCM programme. Most method series end at the RCM grade 4 level.
