I think they are probably just taking a break. Don't you find it difficult to keep up with sometimes? I know that if I contribute to several different threads at once I end up spending far too long on it. Not only that but I lay awake at night thinking about the responses and posts which I know will be coming in as I sleep! That's the trouble with something worldwide, IT never sleeps. Also, the same topics come round as new people join. Sometimes you just can't be bothered to keep posting your opinion over and over. There is never a day goes by where I don't at least read a few threads though. The chances are they will be back before long. They might even be reading this. If you are there John, let us know.

Last time he posted was the time we were all ask to record ourselves playing. And John, I've heard your students play and that's proof enough that you are a great teacher!

Hi guys - thanks for the supporting comments. Betty called and left word on the answering machine today - she alerted me to this thread. I've been rather wrapped up with teaching and some personal affairs. And yes, I am heading to the Messe in Frankfurt in a few weeks, and thought it might be nice if I could get my taxes done before heading off!

We had a great session (Well Prepared Pianist Institute - Jane Tan's baby) last week on Bach's Inventions. Mostly on voicing the subjects, articulation and ornamentation. A lot to share, which I will try to do at some future point.

Quick question if you're still available...

Mozart's Sonata in A K331: One of my students will be playing the Theme and the first variation for Guild Auditions. Do you know if this counts as one piece. I don't think it counts as two, per reading the syllabus and I'm wondering if it even counts as one because not all the variations are learned.

Called headquarters last week and someone was suppose to return my call but have not yet heard back.

Have any idea in regards to this particular Sonata and how they count it?

Hi, I'd send them an email as well. Direct it to Julia Amada Kruger. She is the one who makes these decisions. My guess is that the answer will be "A complete movement of a sonata or sonatina is required." As long as that movement is, it ought to count for more than one.

The thing is about this particular Sonata is that there are no movements. There is the Theme and then the variations of the Theme. In the Guild Syllabus it says Theme and Variations need to be played in its entirelty to be counted as one piece, but I don't know if this means this particular Sonata, since it is a Sonata.

I will email to see how it will counted.

Oh, she might be learning the K331 out of a book of selections, with only the 1st movement included. K331 is the ultra famous Rondo alla Turca, which is the 3rd movement. The 2nd movement is a quite beautiful minuetto, if my memory is correct.
