I am getting a new piano and have two months off from my church accompaniest job. I have taught myself all my life and tho I play well in some areas, there are things I have no idea about, like how to readily transpose or even some notation things. I can play 3 Beethoven sonatas, tons of Bach, 6 Chopin etudes, - to give you an idea of what I am able to learn.

I'd like to know what a proficient working pianist should know....maybe a list of skills that I can compare to my own, to decide what to work on next.

If you'd care to answer - thanks \:\)

Mr. Ron, it is considered quite inappropriate to solicit business on the forums.

Just thought I'd mention that before you settle in too cosy with that.

Please please please get a teacher. What has stopped you from getting a teacher? You are not in a position to diagnose your deficiencies.

Sorry, I can't give you a list because I'm not a "working pianist." However, a suggestion: work with a teacher - or work on your own - regarding your articulation. You've posted two threads - I think - in the past about playing too staccato. It might help you to work a bit on that area of your playing.
