A few words from someone who is not a teacher.
I am not sure it is a good idea to start before.
If your teacher is qualified, he/she will take her time to guide you.
The fundamentals are so important that you must trust your teacher to really work with you as a sculptor.
The more you are "empty", the more your teacher will fill you with wisdom.
Once you start, it is a journey that will go on for the rest of your life.
If the fundamentals have been naturally installed.

Stu, I'm not a teacher either, but I will disagree here (gently) with Benedict. If your lessons start soon, I don't think you'll pick up many bad physical habits but dinking around a little, and trying to get an overview or outline of basic theory may help you in your mental understanding. The site linked below outlines some of the basic music theory and has some good examples. There are other similar sites, and you could probably find mention of them on the Piano World site with a search, but this one is well done. http://www.musictheory.net/lessons.html Good luck to you , Bob

Thanks guys.
I've bought a book "its never too late to play the piano" by Pamela Wedgwood (UK book i believe)
And at the moment i'm just learning to play left and right hands seperately and together with C3 and C4 respectively

Bob, Stu, I'm not a teacher either, but I will disagree here (gently) with Benedict. I had a dream. There was this world were people disagreed and all of them were right. Disagreeing was one the way people came to discover more and more that they were, on a deeper level, in complete agreement. I had this dream. Then, I woke up. It was a nice dream.

Before you start your lessons, practice writing the check to the teacher always in advance and for the correct amount. Also, practice never ever moving your lesson time or showing up unprepared.

Ha!!! That's a good one!!! BTW -- Rob, I used to see you play in the days of Cafe Lido. Glad to see you're staying busy!

What about Steamers?
I've been to both Spaghettini and Kikuya. I've only been back east a couple years, and I get back to OC pretty regularly. A lot of my buddies are still playing around town, so they keep me in the loop to some degree.
