My piano teacher gave me last week a piece of music (Silent Night) that is fairly simple note-wise. It's not given as homework just as something to look at. Next week she will come to my house for a informal visit where I can show her my piano (and finally proof I can[/b] play something \:D ) and of course there will be some playing from her \:\) As a surprise I wish to play this piece for her but I'm not sure about when to pedal. I've drawn the pedal lines in as it is done in the Alfred books to show you how I guess it should be done but maybe some of you could give me a pointer how it should be done? (The music is free available on the internet so there is no legal problem showing it)

Silent Night

Additionally I was wondering I use for the left hand the fingering: 5 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 1 - 2
I could also reach: 5 - 3[/b] - 1 - 3 - 1 - 2

What is the most preferred way?

I would probably pedal on beats 3 and 1, but use your ears to listen for when it gets too mushy.

An alternate fingering for the LH would be:

5 2 1 2 1 2
