My daughter passed his first ABRMS(British) last year, plus Yamaha exam. She had been going to group lesson for 3 years+. But now we put her in private lesson at Yamaha and want her to enjoy and work simi hard on it but not too much pressure or theries. We don't care too much about how fast or how many tests she can past but want her to keep going and enjoy it.

For any teachers who are familiar with YAMAHA, can you recommend anything important we should do?
She already played simplified version of Fur Elise, Musette etc. Are there any particular classical piece we can ask her teacher to teach.

James, for myself it is not that I am not interested because it is Japanese. I quite respect all things Japanese and have good Japanese friends. Rather it is because I have no knowledge of that particular method. I cannot comment on pieces she should play as I am not familiar w/ her level. "simplified version of Fur Elise, Musette, etc." could be a variety of levels, depending upon who arranged the music. In Faber & Faber the simplified Fur Elise is in level 2 but it is VERY simple. Which Musette?
Why not try going to the music store and looking at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto books (about Grade 2 maybe), and the faber and Faber Level 3B or 4 books. They might give you some ideas, although if her teacher cannot make suggests as to repertoire, perhaps she is lacking ...

My daughter is practicing Baccarole, Mussett from ABRSM exam level 2 book for her exam. I think these music are somewhat challenging to intermediate level. On the side, I am also teaching her the Entertainer which she is enjoying tremendously.
