I was wondering if anyone can comment on the this edition of Czerny studies. I'm curious to find out who was Louis OESTERLE? Inside the cover it indicated this is a series of Four books. I have book 1. I found and ordered book 2 from bookfinder but can't seem to find any internet trace to books 3 and 4. I like to go through the entire set but especially books 3 and 4 because the publisher indicated these two books to be where I'm at ie. My playing ability.

If I knew this publication was so old, around the turn of the century I might have looked for a more modern edition.

Questions: I'm working through Afreads Young pianist version of Czerny. I'm looking to make czerny a regular part of my practice before I practice my regular pieces. Should I begin this Selected Studies (oesterle) book 1 after I finished Alfred's Young pianist? Book 1 is sayed to be late beginner. Will I get my practice times worth out of this book if I commit to this book and work my way all the way through? Or is it too easy and thus not develop my playing skills. Should I start at book 2 or higher.

There are so many editions of czerny I'm not sure what edition or from what publisher to use.

This is a "SELECTED STUDIES" which means, I imagine, some teacher choose these czerny studies and compiled them for publication.
My final question is this: Is this the best editor to use, is he trustworthy? Or did he just select these studies randomly to make money for the publisher.
