I realized too late that I had posted this in the wrong forum--should have asked the opinions of all you teachers here!

I've gotten many great suggestions, but anyone who could add more would be much appreciated!

Here is the post, in the Pianist Forum:

Find pieces that she likes.
If you don't love what you're able to play eventually you realize that the effort is not worth the result.

Download midi files or pieces she could play and have her listen to them. If there are a good bunch of them she will certainly find something that will spark her interest.

When I was very young I had a teacher that wanted me to practice Czerny, Scales, Cramer, Bertini, , Heller. Even though I'm passionate about piano and have always loved it since I was 2 years old I wanted to quit, it was terribly frustrating to spend all the time with such unmusical staff.

When I changed teacher and she asked to see my homeworks diary of the previous teacher the first thing she said is "so, what happened to real music?"

After all I remember I wanted to play the piano after watching Rhapsody Rabbit (a Bugs Bunny short) So well eventually we all consider playing the piano because there's something we want to play. If there isn't it's just clear that we lose interest and focus on something else.

:D

I agree, Danny. In the end, unless we are making a living playing the piano, we all end up playing what we love anyway. Once I was done with my level 1 book, I didn't play anything I didn't like. In our house we play for enjoyment only, so it should be enjoyable!

For future reference, diinin, you can always ask a moderator to move a thread from one forum to another, should the need arise. \:\)
