I am at the grade 8 level of Royal Conservatory repertoire. I am wondering what options I have as a music career. I am thinking about being a piano teacher. But was wondering if anyone knows of anything else I could do in the meantime to get more involved in music. Or other choices that are out there as options besides teaching. Thanks for all your help

Try reading the book Careers in Music (it's Canadian!). Continue with top-quality piano lessons and pedagogy lessons (how to teach). Also consider joining a chamber ensemble or playing piano at church.
Good luck!

Hi,
I have survived and flourished as a freelance music business person since high school. You need to assess your options and likes and dislikes and see what you might want to do.
Most people in the freelance world do a combination of music oriented things to make it work-I record, write books, play live shows, teach, and produce CD's.
You may want to put yourself in a musical community where the music things you wish to do are possible. Being a (mostly) jazz musician, I had to choose between New York and LA as homebases, and I chose LA because I hate cold weather. Be sure that whatever direction you go in that there is a market for it in the city you end up in or you will be frustrated. Best of luck!
