Hi everyone

Having read some of the previous posts on this board, I don't want to be repetitive, but...
I have been playing piano since I was 5 (20 years) and I moved here from England in September. In England while at college I did some teaching on the side, and I loved it, and would like to do some more.
I have grades 1-8 on piano and flute, plus an A level in Music (that means I majored in music at high school), but I didn't take Music at college because I always wanted to be a translator..tough, huh!
I've been looking around on the internet and have (obviously) found many different soures that dicuss the necessity of certification for teaching. Personally, I don't think it matters, (but then I wouldn't!). What are other peoples' views?

I'd really appreciate any tips (also any on how to get some pupils would be excellent!)

Thanks, Hilary

I recommend the modern method books by Nany Faber and Randall Faber for your teaching method, they are the least annoying. It's called "Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner"

Write a very professional ad and post it around your area in places such as music stores, libraries, music departments at schools. Ask the secretaries at the music schools to keep you on file for private lessons. Contact all the mom and pop music stores or schools and ask if you can have a time slot at their locations, they take a small cut. Get a listing in the business section of the telephone book,

AND post your ad on the LOCAL message boards.
