Another one of my recordings posted on Pianostreet. http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,12387.0.html This rendition, I suspect, could be too slow for some, but oddly feels just right for me, to bring out the melancholic feeling in the music. Do post your comments, if any

I've been told that my interpretation of this piece is too draggy, approaching a "dirge" (whatever that means) etc, but I still feel the tempo is right for the mood I wish to convey. Strangely, most of the Russian pianists I've heard take a similarly slow tempo, including Pletnev, Koriolov, Vladimir Tropp and Ashkenazy

Never mind....I read further and found it was the Ibach. Very rich tones.
Beautiful rendition. I am eager to learn it (but not on this old piana!)
--------- What piano was this one recorded on?

I really love this old Ibach...and I hope when my Sauter ages, it will sound like that. The bright and rich treble is just right for music with a cantabile line..just right for this piece!

Wzkit,
I have been playing this all week, and studying with the music, your playing. Love some of the countermelodies and your hesitation just before the high notes in a phrase. Something that I also do at times. ;-)
You clearly interpret this with the emotion that it was written beautifully.

I'm glad you liked it. I've heard some professional recordings of this music, and never could warm up to those which took a much faster tempo. To me, the melancholy and the intensity of the emotion is lost at a faster tempo. I'm glad that there's someone who likes this interpretation!
