Hi. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Where can I get a good free recorder on the internet? I have windows sound recorder, but you can only record a minute and have to extend and it is very annoying. I already tried Total Recorder. It's very good, but only let's you record for a short time since it's a trial version and I have to pay to use it. Any free recorders on the internet? Thanks.

It's weird that this should come up now because i have been looking to buy some recording software for a while and never even considered loking for a free download on the net. Anyway, you gave me the idea and i went off hunting and i found a really good free programme that you could download and it has unlimited recording time. Thanks alot for giving me the idea of looking for a programme online. The link is:-

http://www.roemersoftware.com/

and the free version is the second one down on the list, called 'FREE Hi-Q Recorder Version 1.9'. Hope it suits your needs. It fits mine perfectly!

\:D (Happy face coz you just saved me buying some extremely expensive software. Thankyou!!!)

I always use Audacity. Works fine and lets me eliminate all mistakes in my recordings \:\)

Yeah...as of yet, I have no idea what half the stuff does...but it's a good program. I was able to clean up some pretty harsh recordings using "Sound Recorder"...got rid of a LOT of noise, and with minimal distortion. Definitely a good program. \:\)

I agree. Audacity is the BEST. It is free, has many features, and you can fix your mistakes easily by cutting and pasting.

For editing my recordings, I use Nero WaveEditor, which cleans the sound file of background noise, clicks, crackles, and enhances the stereo.

Hmm...I have Nero CD/R burning software, but not WaveEditor.... Is that free, or is there a cost?

I think it comes with Nero 6 Ultra Edition. You might have an older version which did not include it.
