Mike :
Thank you. I am hoping to post the Schubert Op 90, No 4 next week. A couple of unisons are starting to go on the piano, but I don't want to have the tuner in until just before a group performance at the end of April. I'll see how it sounds - both the piano and my playing - of the Op 90 No 4.
Thanks again!
Regards,

Thank you. That's very calming. I've just started working on No.1, but it will be a while before it's anywhere near ready to record. Best wishes, Matthew

Very nice recording. It was obvious you were paying attention to the larger melodic picture by letting the eighth notes be just a murmur and allowing the melody to really come through. So many pianists focus on the eighth notes to the extent that the melody (and beauty) really suffers. You chose a great piece. Bravo!

If you just want to hear how well you play, then fine.. :p Seriously, though, you played with a certain sensitivity that I enjoy in this piece. If you were interested in hearing a few brief comments: I'm half-way through.. some pedalling ideas that kind of separated the melody.. but still very nice. 3/4.. really lead that Ab fermata into the Bb on the downbeat.. Definitely a good performance.. thanks!

I started to listen to critique the pianism, the execution, the style...but after a few measures I was swept away by the sheer Schubertian beauty of the performance, and that's all I could hear.
Superb...

Bruce, that is lovely! You play it well enough to perform it. That said, while I like this piece, it would be GREAT to hear Op. 90 No. 4!!! I've heard Op. 90 No. 3 about five separate times on PianoWorld (member since February), and Op. 90 No. 4 zero times. In no wise, however, does that detract from this performance. Cleanly played, well executed.

Thank you.
Actually, the Op 90 No 4 is in my repertoire; I'll try to record it on here some time soon.

Well played, sir! I especially enjoyed your phrasing and contrasting dynamics. You play with sensitivity. It's clear you know how the piece is constructed and flows together.
Just one suggestion. I would try to make the accompaniment even softer. Also, in some areas letting the accompaniment adds extra depth and beauty. For example, let the left hand out in measure 18 (you can hear the g natural to A flat). It gives a great effect in certain parts. I'll post mine soon, so you can hear what I mean.

Are using the Zoom H4 standalone? I was thinking of purchasing one of these. The quality is amazing! except for the loud sections which muffles the sound. Does adding condenser mics improve the quality drastically? http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/1/19708.html
