My recording of it on Pianostreet. This happens to be one of my favourite pieces of all time. Comments are welcome, especially on whether the first or second version is preferred! http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,11737.0.html

I love your playing - you bring out the nuances beautifully. In fact, you bring out EVERYTHING beautfully, have you played any other pieces from Iberia?

I have not played any other pieces from Iberia - they would be way beyond my technical abilities. Regarding the slowing down and hesitations, I was told in another forum that I hesitated way too much. On hindsight, perhaps the pauses were too long, though my rather liberal rubato was quite deliberate. Any comments on the hesitations?

You'd be surprised - certainly if you can play this to a high standard, I think you could manage El Puerto (the one after).
I didn't have a problem with the hesitations - its your interpretation and I thought it worked.

Thanks for the comments...will certainly keep El Puerto on my radar screen (though Triana and Lavapies are my favourite!)

Sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier. Thanks for your kind words in my recent post. I anticipate hearing your recording(s)when I have access to high speed downloads later today.
Anyone who can play Evocacion can handle El Puerto. I think they make a great pair in recital (besides being the only two I can realistically claim to play).
EDIT: I just listened to your recording and enjoyed it very much. There were in particular voicings and articulations that were well employed, which I'm encouraged to try in my rendition now. Thanks for pointing me here.

Thanks for your kind comments. Likewise I found a number of interesting ideas in your own interpretation that I could use in my own.
By the way, have you heard Esteban Sanchez's recording of this piece? Its fantastic, right up there with de Larrocha's.
