Hi again everyone. Here's another recording of my playing. It's the Khatchaturian Toccata in Eb minor. It's an impressive and percussive piece, yet it is not nearly as difficult as it sounds. It was not hard for me to learn, and it is very fun to play. \:\) My playing has a few mistakes, and I would love any comments or constructive criticism on my playing.

Thanks! \:D

what kind of piano do you own? it sounds kind of muffled. it sounds very impressive, and if you made some major mistakes i couldnt really distinguish them.

some parts do sound a little rushed and would sound better if played a little bit slower. other than that i thought it was quite good. id like to learn it, so could you send me the sheet music or tell me where to get it? my email is hockeypro327@yahoo.com

thanks, and keep on posting your recordings!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I own a Yamaha U1 piano, and it doesn't have a muffled sound at all, but I placed the microphone on top of the piano without opening the lid, so that's why it might sound muffled. I didn't really make any major mistakes, but I think I could have done some parts better. I don't think you could find this piece on the internet, and I don't have a scanner, so I can't send it. Sorry.

I think that's probably what it was. Or, if you did any equalizing (or didn't), it turned out a little bass-heavy (in a range where the piano doesn't play), so there was a little noise. Otherwise, it's a fairly clear recording.

I don't think you could find this piece on the internet, and I don't have a scanner, so I can't send it. Sorry.
Yeah...I tried looking and came up empty (except for a few pay sites).

I wish I could provide some sort of constructive comment for you, virtuoso, but unfortunately this is not a piece I'm familiar with. \:\( I'll default to what you've said about your own playing--you will likely be your own worst critic (I know I am, in my 'private sessions' with myself...you know, those ones where you go into a room and curse yourself out for ever making a mistake? :p ;\) ).

Oh, I did want to say that though I'm not a big fan of the composer, from what I could tell, you played well. (You kept me listening through the entire piece, which I must say is rather difficult to do when I do not really like the composer.) \:\)
Every day we are afforded a new chance. The problem with life is not that you run out of chances. In the end, what you run out of are days.

I used to play this ages ago and remember it as great fun (though not to those in hearing range of my practice). I am very impressed by your playing, you make it come out very well. In particular the sections with the repeated notes which I found difficult sounds as if they are not difficult at all. Beware of the runs afterwards though (where LH comes in at one note of four), it's easy to get them uneven.

The introductory section sounded a bit unclear - in particular the part immediately before the repeated notes. I don't know if it is the recording, if you use too much pedal, or too much rubato.

In my opinion the middle part should be quite a bit slower, forming a pool of poetic calm amid chaos. I guess this is a matter of interpretation.
