Hi, I am 28 days away from sitting my AMEB grade 8 exam. I would love any feedback about my pieces. Here are the links: http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,31893.0.html (Gershwin Prelude No. 1) http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,31893.0.html (Bach F minor Prelude and Fugue, Bk 2 of Well Tempered Clavier) http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,31895.0.html (Chopin Nocturne in B Major, Op. 31. no. 1) http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,31895.0.html (Mozart K. 331 Sonata, first movement part 1) http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,31898.0.html (mozart part 2) Thanks for looking, any feedback would be invaluable, Kylie

I just checked the Syllabus, and it appears that you dont need extra list pieces for grade 8.. so thats that. I actually plan on doing grade 7 myself next year which I guess in a way means more work with doing 6 instead of 4.. but I guess it works out cause G8 is supposed to be that wee bit harder.
And yet when I see Beethovens Pathetique Op 13. mvmt 3 in the grade 7 syllabus - I beg to differ.. lol.
By the way, hows your technical work? When I look at the requirements of G7 arpeggios needing E flat, A flat, C sharp and F sharp (major and minor) root, first and second inversions - at 76bpm, four notes per beat. Thats 24 different arpeggios all at that speed.. and thats just minimum tempo for a C grade. Sheesh! And I think grade 8 is likewise 80bpm for arpeggios and 104 for scales. Thats a fair bit of time perfecting scales and arpeggios.. and I guess if you aren't naturally inclined to want to prac them doing your exam is a huge incentive.
