I really enjoyed listening to that. I was quite surprised with the sound of a piano that old!. It sounded great! Does anyone know the composer to that piece? Is it a rag/jazz piece? It sounds pretty much both.

Thanks for the kind words, Googlism. I think it sounds pretty good for a $20.00 piano that was 300 cents flat when I got it. It cost $65.00 to have it moved and $15 for the materials to put the Miller player action back in operating condition. So for $100.00 total, I have a working almost antique player. You might be interested in knowing that the recording was made 10 months after a tuning. I think it holds tuning pretty good.

I just now listened to your recording. I agree with Googlism; it's really a great-sounding piano, especially considering its age.

Bryant, what a wonderful sounding piano! I love the way you played the song, too! I really like that kind of music. I'll answer your e-mail in a minute.

EAST OF THE SUN (4:47)
(Pal Waaktaar)

Half of a letter
Tells half a story
The way I see it
It's half the worry
Where I came from
I forgot too soon...
East of the sun
And west of the moon

Money talks
And hey, I'm listening
I've lived without it
Enough to miss it
Where I'm going
I'll get there soon
East of the sun
And west of the moon

Ooh, never gonna get there later
You know, I wanna get there soon
Never gonna get there, baby
On a desert road to home
East of the sun
And west of the moon

Another day leaves me aching
I try to wake up
But something's breaking
Here inside me
Deep and hollow
A sound that no other sound could follow
I know the pain
Before the wound
East of the sun
And west of the moon

Bryant... what a way to start my Sunday morning listening to this song. My eyes fill with tears once again & I sob once more over the loss of my mother knowing how sweetly she would have sung this song. As difficult as it is to hear "her" music I thank you (& Frank) for stirring up beautiful, memorable thoughts of her on a Sunday morning. We almost always spoke around this time on Sunday mornings if I wasn't down there visiting with her.
I'll just accept this as a visit from her. It sort of reassures me that her (& just recently my dad) are together once again and she wants me to know they are fine.
