I was trying to write a nocturne, I'm not sure what to call it now. But it's just something I thought up in five minutes. I'm sure someone out there probaly already wrote something like this and I won't be able to publish the thing or anything for misunderstood plagerism, but it's just something I made up for fun... in boredom!!!!! anyway, here: < Nocturne???? >

I liked it! Based on how quickly you said you thought it up, you could probably call it an impromptu (like those by Schubert). The sequence that begins at 2:48 sounds a bit like a certain sequence from Beethoven's Für Elise, and you finished the sequence in a similar manner that Beethoven does - by using a sort of cadenza (which begins at 3:10)... That's *not* a bad thing: there are many compositions in classical music that remind some other composition at some point in some way... Composers often unconsciously (and sometimes consciously) use music that they have heard before; everything that they hear might influence them without them knowing it.

Hm... I haven't heard Fur Elise in a year or two... and I don't even know what a cadenza is ^^. But I guess I'll be working on other pieces, most of them probably Impromptus. I never really think anything out, I build as I play.

About what 'cadenza' means: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadenza The sequence in your composition isn't an actual cadenza, though... I suppose it should be called a 'bridge' (or something like that)... "But I guess I'll be working on other pieces, most of them probably Impromptus." Do that, but don't abandon the first one that you shared with us; you can put it on hold, but don't abandon it...and I think you should have at least one long-term composition under work at every given time... It may be harder to be very deliberate with composing, but I think it might also make you learn more... Anyway, keep up the good work!
