Amelia :

Part of the problem I have with this performance is the quality of the recording. It appears to have been recorded at such high volume that the sound every note is blurred by "overload" - or has a "buzz" which means that one can't distinguish any dynamics in this performance; it all sounds as if played at the same high volume level, which I'm sure is not the way you play it.

It would be helpful if you could re-record this at a lower volume level so that your dynamics can be distinguished and appreciated.

That said - unless this is, again, all a problem in the recording quality - I think you need to distinguish much more between the p and f markings in the score; this movement never goes above f, and yet much of it sounds much louder, much more forced, than that.

In the several bars at the beginning of the development (after the repeat sign in my score) I think you need to have greater distinction in the voicing of the parts; they all come through at equal volume. I think you need to decide which voice has priority (I would suggest the top voice) and make it sing out over the others; otherwise, Haydn's part-writing here doesn't make much sense.

Be careful to always observe the phrasing as indicated in the score.

Regards,
