The Result For the curious: I used my Yamaha P80 as a controller and a Motif Rack ES as a sound source. I used the Motif's built-in USB MIDI interface and ran the audio into an Echo indigo i/o card in my laptop.

It's nice, and a great sound quality as well.
BTW, how much did you pay for the Motif Rack ES? I am very tempted to buy one!

Yeah, I love the Echo card - fantastic sound for a laptop.
I think the Motif was just over $1000. I also considered a Fantom but wasn't interested in the sampling part.
