Allright. I call this a beta version. It's the Grieg lyric piece Wächterlied (Watchman's song). I almost got it right. Now it's time for curing the wrong notes, and to fine-adjust the dynamics and such. I find that sometimes I bring out tones in the harmony too much, allthough I don't know why. I recorded this on my Roland E-86 synth through the computer's mic port. Then applied noise reduction and stereo width. When it's complete though I'll run it through a software piano. http://savefile.com/files/9984461 (oooo I like that spooooooky intermezzo, "Spirits of the Night")

Be careful of accents. Sometimes I feel like certain notes (particularly at the ends of phrases) are accented to heavily.
Also, do you have a pedal for your Roland E-86 synth? If you do, I might suggest trying that out a bit with this piece.
Overall, a good job. Have you read Shakespeare's play, "Hamlet?" IIRC, this piece was inspired by a scene in the beginning, where Prince Hamlet's friends are on nightwatch, and they see the ghost of the dead King Hamlet, who refuses to talk to anyone but his own son.

I have read Hamlet, and indeed I thought it was Hamlet Grieg was thinking of. On the score it says that it's inspired by Macbeth. Haven't read/seen that one, but I know Hamlet, and that fits perfectly.
Thanks for listening. Yes I have a pedal. Next time I'll use that a little more. (I'm afraid using it too much in this piece).

Here's my second version, this time with a little more pedalling. http://www.savefile.com/files/5283666

Yes, I think you are right. Macbeth.
I did read that one a couple times, and I'm trying to think of the connection! Though I only remember bits of the plot, so perhaps I should read a summary somewhere to refresh my memory.

Check out the Wikipedia entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macbeth I don't own an accoustic piano (not a digital either for that matter). Allthough I'd like to buy a digital. With my present 61-key synth I often "need more keys!". Yesterday though I had the opportunity to play on a Yamaha grand, and I played this piece. I recorded a bit of it with my Olympus digital voice recorder, and after some editing it sounds quite good! But one thing I realised is that I'm so used to a strong reverb effect on the synth, so I needed to use the pedal a lot more.
