This is a public forum
Piano World does not "post" the messages, the users post the messages themselves.
We (Piano World, it's employees and affiliates)
do not assume responsibility for the posts.
The views and opinions expressed in these forums do not necessarily reflect the views and/or opinions of Piano World, its employees, or its affiliates. Our moderators are part-time unpaid volunteers who's primary goal is to keep conversations civil. They are not qualified to, nor expected to make any decisions that would require knowledge of laws in the U.S. or any other country.
-------------------------------------------The following is legal fact, provided by our attorney
Piano World has absolutely no legal responsibility for these postings. The law is very clear in this area. As the host for a forum, Piano World is treated as a news vendor, bookstore or library and is not liable, since we neither know nor have any reason to know of any purported defamation. We exert no editorial control over the content of forum postings. Moreover, the Communications Decency Act has preempted any defamation claims against Piano World.
Further, we provide the mechanism for a rebuttal of any posts by offering anyone the ability to join our forums and submit their own post.
If you feel a post is inaccurate, mean-spirited, or too off-color, you may bring it to my attention via email firstname.lastname@example.org
or flag one of the forums moderators .
This does not guarantee we will change, edit, or remove the post, it is after all a public forum and the posts are the opinion of the poster(s).
This being America, you of course have the right
to threaten legal action. Be advised I will post the full content of any such threats, legal documents, emails, etc. on the forums and draw our membership/visitors attention to same.
Our 80,000+ members (many of whom work in the legal profession or the piano business) and hundreds of thousands of visitors can then assess for themselves the validity of your claims.
I may also, at my discretion, send an email to our full forums membership and the 100,000 plus email addresses (of piano owners) we have in our main database.
I am much more agreeable when I don't feel threatened, and I would prefer you work out any issues right here on our forums, in the open, with our members.
Failing that, I will tell you we have very good legal counsel and the full support of our many members and guests.
Trust that if we get dragged into any legal actions we will counter sue for all legal fees, court costs, lost time, aggravation, and anything else we can recoup.
If you have any legal standings at all, it would be with the poster and not with the owners of the forums.
While I agree falsehoods should be corrected, I also believe truths should stand and that (at least in this country) people have a right to their opinions.
And I really, really don't like to be threatened.
