I just thought I would throw this out for discussion today.

Up until a year ago when I started this venture, I had a song stuck in my head. Now, I'm not talking about something that lasts a day. This particular song has been stuck in my head for like 15-20 years, I don't know, but a very very long time. I am grateful that since I started playing it has lessened to some extent.

Anyways, I kinda wish this song had never been written because it taunts me. hehehe

I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

Copper, I have always loved that song, I definitely am glad it was written! Although, now that you have brought it up, I'm going to be humming it all day!!

Anyway.....now, I'm off to see the wizard.... laugh

The technical term for a song that gets stuck in your head like that is "earwrorm." smile

Worst one for me is a little ditty by Bela Fleck called Big Country. Now, I don't wish it had never been written, as I do love the thing, but man, is that ever an earworm. And, now, it's started up in my head again..... Thanks, Naught! LOL

"Don't tell my heart..."

Now there is a song I'd like to send over the rainbow.

Any number of bad songs from the '70's...

"Billy, Don't be a Hero."
"The Night Chicago Died."
"Run, Joey Run."
"Playground in my Mind."
"Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast."
"(You're) Having my Baby"
Anything by the Osmonds or DeFranco Family

ALL those ridiculous songs that just fade out and don't have a proper ending.

I'll give you a pass on Marie (or even Donny after 1980 - he did a creditable "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", as well as decent voice work on "Mulan")...I'm specifically thinking of any 1970's record by "The Osmonds", such as "Yo Yo", "Sweet and Innocent", "Go Away, Little Girl", "Long Haired Lover from Liverpool"...etc.... wink

Naught, I was thinking, you probably should just go ahead and learn to play this on the piano:

If I Only Had a Brain

In 1990 my company hired Marie Osmond to sing at a trade show dinner. I shook her hand. I was never a fan of that sort of music.

For years I sat in the next cubicle from a guy who whistled the same tune constantly. He didn't realize he was doing it, had no idea what the tune was and couldn't do it if he tried. I never discovered what it was and no longer sit near him.

I think you may have stumbled on a great theme for the next recital... That would certainly keep the bandwidth down.

You're killing me here. Any time we're in the car for more than 15 minutes, my three-year old wants to listen to the W of O soundtrack. It seemed cute the first couple of hundred times.

"I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain."

(I actually used this as my sig line briefly a while ago.)

Amen... That's one of my pet peeves - at least write an ending instead of copping out with the fade...

What you are is an accident of birth. What I am, I am through my own efforts. There have been a thousand princes and there will be a thousand more. There is one Beethoven.
