Welcome to the Adult Beginners Forum! This thread contains links to topics that the members of the ABF think are of enduring interest. Click on any of the highlighted areas below to see more and don't be afraid to join in the discussion!

Not sure if you're in the right place? We welcome pianists of all levels but here is where we talked about who the ABF is for . And if you're thinking about starting (or restarting) at the piano but are worried that since you didn't start at age 3 you'll never amount to much, have a look at the it's never too late thread for some inspiration.
About us

Want to get to know some of the people here? Some of the members have posted introductions and more than a few have posted pictures as well. As you can see, we're a pretty diverse (not to mention good looking) group! Make sure you stop by and introduce yourself and add a photo.
Recitals

We hold recitals 4 times a year and invite you to participate! Recital dates are always the same: February 15th, May 15th, August 15th and November 15th.

Since you'll need to record your playing to participate, here are some resources to help:

Recording your piano
Recording using the Zoom H4

Here is a link to the recitals we've had so far. Have a listen to some amazing playing!

PianoWorld Recitals

And our very first Recital of Chopin's Preludes , the first and second installments of the Mazurka Marathon, the
Chopin Etudes recital and the Chopin Nocturnes recital .

Practice makes perfect

Here is where you can log all of those hours you've been practicing and participate in the good natured Dudes vs. Chicks practice challenge.

We also have our "Master of Your Domain" thread where you pledge to practice every day and have to "fess up" when you don't.
Some resources to help in your studies

As you might imagine, there are lots of helpful resources available on the web. Here are a few:

Primer on Chord Voicing by our very own Rodney.
Practice drills in theory and sight reading
Piano theory
Fundamentals of piano practice gives lots of tips on how to practice and play.
