Hey do you think if I learn this piece "mechanically" (as I'm learning now) is it gonna make me a better piano player? By the way I'm now getting very optimistic, and I don't think that I'm gonna need a few months, anymore ...

This is a great piece! Let us know how it goes! Whether it's later beginner or intermediate, it sure looks and sounds impressive!
I can't believe this composer is so young or that this was done for a movie... By listening to the piece you'd think he was one of the great romantics.

Hey! As few people asked me to tell how I am doing, so I can already play ~67 bars of ~150, I can play them normally, though of course a bit insonsistant sometimes. Bar 67 means that I've already learnt one quick part, and I'm working on the other, which if you watched the video starts at about 01:20, the part where your left hand starts to "run" across the keyboard, it's not hard actually, I can play a small bit of it. I'm getting pretty optimistic, I think I'll need just another 2-3 weeks to finish... And I'm already looking at "Comptine d'un autre ete : l'apres-midi" also by Yann Tiersen, because it's gonna be next one !

That's awesome! So you got me hooked on this song after reading all the posts and getting the Amelie soundtrack. After spending a few days on it (including some 6 hours straight on Thursday!) I can get through the first two pages without stumbling too much. It is fun to play! It just seems to keep building on itself so once you get the basic chord changes down it seems to keep going. I've only been playing piano a few weeks, so I love being able to play such a fun-sounding piece already! I just hope I don't have too much tension in my wrists with those long octave stretches.
