I'm at about three years of lessons now, and can play a lot more things, albeit nothing tremendously difficult.. Easy Piano stuff is right up my alley, big note too easy. I'm in the 5th Alfred books in lessons.

I'm looking for jazzy/bluesy pieces ala Marica Ball (of Austin if anyone is familiar with her.. if not give her a try.. she's been around since the 80's and is quite fine)

Or beautiful classical pieces that are at my level.. any suggestions?

Have you tried any ragtime? Maple Leaf Rag is one of the great crowd pleasers of the entire piano repertoire.

after 3 years, you may not have any problem playing some Bach's little preludes or inventions or even some Chopin's pieces. there are plenty of beautiful classical pieces which would suit your taste. which composers do you prefer?

Oh, Rachmaninoff, Mussgorsky.. just kidding, although I do like the Russians. I like Bach and Chopin a lot... actually I can't think of anyone I really dislike. Beethoven, of course.. I can get through the notes in Moonlight Sonata, just can't get the music out of it yet. I like Debussey...

Easy piano jazz pieces: Seek the work of Marth Mier. She's a hoot, and has books at several levels. Fun, a little complex as jazz ought to be, but very forgiving pieces.

If you are looking for some interesting classical pieces, I have one word for you: Scarlatti. In my opinion, one of most underappreciated composers of all times.
Try this for starters:

if Beethoven moonlight sonata is bit of more advanced for you, you may try his op.79, which is a quite nice piece and 3rd easiest sonata of the 32.

i agree, Scarlatti sonatas are something you could try, some of them are easy.

Actually I have a jazz/blues Martha Mier book my sister-in-law gave me.. nice little pieces..

Just got my new piano delivered yesterday.. was playing a spinet,now a grand. It betrays me on every mistake in clear, bell-like tones! I had not anticipated how unforgiving it might be..lol..

I'm going to have it voiced down a fair bit after it acclimates.

The Beethoven and Scarlatti pieces I will look up and try!

If you like Debussy you could try some of his easier Arabesques . Also, there exist simplified arrangements of his most famous hit Clair De Lune.

I know what you mean about your piano betraying you. But it was so nice to play without worrying that repeated notes woudnn't sound, etc.

ianlim, a simplified Claire De Lune is what I used most to try out pianos.. uses about 80% of the keyboard, and a lot of room for interpretation. It is also teh piece I have memorized best..:-)

Cindy, I got a Pramberger JP-185.. I will let it acclimate before having it voiced and regulated.. but it will be hard to not know what exactly it will turn out to be.. pretty harsh right now.
