Hello all,
I do not start my lessons until after the holidays, but I've been putzing around as best as I can.
I found some sheet music for the Christmas song "Silent Night" labeled "Level 2". I said to myself, might as well try it. I quickly became frustrated and let it go, and went back to my scales, and other practices.
Then I said, "I want my first song that I play on the piano to be something that honors the Lord, not something real basic that I'm sure my instructor will start me off on"
So I practiced, practiced, practiced. Started with the right hand only, then only the left (Don't know if that was right, but it worked for me) then brought them together slowly, then up'd the tempo until I had it.
My wife was in the living room reading, and I took off the headphones, and played it. She turned to me with astonishment and said "Honey that was really beautiful!"
So it was a small accomplishment, but boy did it make me feel good....just wanted to share in the moment with everyone.

That's wonderful! And what a perfect song to pick for your first.

I don't want to put a damper on it, but you might want to look up what "putz" means. It's funny how so much Yiddish has become part of the American vernacular without an understanding of the words. You might want to consider choosing another word. The original meaning refers to a part of the male anatomy.

That's wonderful. Sometimes the little things have the biggest impact on us. You must be proud!
