Just a note of thanks to one and all - your advice and encougragement helped me get through a combination of "I've had it" and "I'm getting nowhere" mood.

It really helps to have friends who understand learning music and learning to play the good ole 88.

Started back to practice sessions today - have to say that I went slowly and didn't worry about goof-ups, just wanted to get going again. So guess I just needed a break.

Glad to hear you weathered your motivation slump!

I think it's easier to get through those "I'm getting nowhere" spells when you remember that progress in piano is not linear but jagged. There will be times when you have discouragingly long plateaus or even periods of regression, but that just makes those sudden jumps in progress all the more exhilirating.
