I didn't want to put this in the Recital discussion threads, as to not detract from their purpose.

I think it would be great if there was a seperate main category on PW, just like there is for "Adult Beginners", just for the Piano World recitals. Inside of these categories could be sub categories, one for each of the PW recitals so far, and inside those categories would be the threads applicable to each recital. The reason is this is stuff that is timeless and could be commented on for a long time to come, and would also be easier to access for new people trying to see what are recitals are all about.

Even current/old threads on recitals could be "moved" into this new structure, something like

Piano World Recitals
General Recital Discussion
Recital Suggestions
Recital I
Recital II
Recital XI

So for example threads under each "Recital" category would be like:
Recital XI
Recital #11 (August 15, 2008): Call For Submissions
    Recital 11 -- August 15, 2008
The Order of The Red Dot XI
Recital 11 -- Critical Discussion Room
Recital 11 -- General Discussion Room
The 11th World Famous ABF Recital...

You do know they're all listed in the Important Topics sticky at the top of the ABF?

Actually, I'm a little jealous of them for the ABF \:\) That is to say, I think they're really a specialty of *ours*, and while anyone can participate, I'd hate to have them potentially taken over by other forums - they can do their own if they want! The recitals and the piano bars are such wonderful community events and so indicative of the atmosphere here, which is pretty different from the atmosphere in some of the other forums, that I like having them here. Someone has to come looking for the ABF and our community to find them, and sort of "buy into" our comraderie.

So, I think the recital and piano bar "founders", as well as all the others who started this forum, were pretty special people, and I kind of like it here.

Selfishly yours \:\) ,

Hi signal,

I think it is a great idea to talk about ideas like this, as it is one way to make sure that the ideas behind the piano bars and recitals are still valid.

There are already forums set up for composers and for member recordings. Most of the recent member recording threads that I have seen posted over in the pianists corner were closed by the moderators with the instructions to post in the member recordings forum.

Even with that incentive to use the members recording forum more, it still seems that it doesn't get much trafic. You may say that if you post it, they will come. \:D

I have to agree with Cathy. The open and supportive atmosphere in the ABF (whatever that really means) is what makes the recitals work at all. I've seen too many different ideas that work for us fail to catch on in the Pianists Corner. As an example, the Hanon Challenge made it through about exercise 12 or so. The Pianists Corner tried a Czerny School of Velocity challenge and I don't remember them even managing more than two exercises.

I wasn't really referring to necessarily making this a non-ABF event. Just organizing it so historically they are alot easier to access and browse thru.

I am all for the recitals, and for them being ABF. The only reason I proposed the structure is that ABF is a single forum there is no sub-forums inside of it. ABF is one of the busiest forums in PW, it could almost use some breakout forums below it.
