Hi everybody
I've been working on a bit of a song on the keyboard, and just making up my own chords (probably not, but I don't know the chord names, so I call it making up), but I really want to know what they actually are...
Does anyone know what these combinations of 3 notes is in terms of chords??
1. GCE 2. ACE (I think this is an A chord) 3. ADF 4. GBD (I think this is a G chord) 5. GBE 6. FAC (I think this is an F chord) 7. FAD 8. CFA 9. EGB 10. DGB 11. CEG (is this a C chord?)
Help? lol

Welcome Grace_Slick,
That EAB - a potentially very cool jazzy sound. Are you near a piano? Put your left hand on Low G, and F above. Right hand on EAB. Press down -- nice sound, huh. It's a G dominant chord.
That E, A flat, B can be thought of as E, G#, B - which is simply an E major chord.
Barb
For that EAB, you can also put a low C in the left hand and you have a C major 7 chord.

Have you tried http://www.pianoworld.com/fun/vpc/piano_chords.htm EAB is Esus4 and as Swingin' Barb said, EAbB is the same as EG#B - E major. Balf ♫

MmmmBalf,
Sus4 - Why of course! Thank you for that reminder. (I jumped the gun on that one and was thinking "chord voicing")

Thank you again! You're all very helpful.
I really don't know at all what I'm doing, as you can probably tell.
I may be somewhat delusional, but right now in these very early stages of playing, I feel I don't necessarily NEED to know all the chords. I was just curious to know them and also so my partner (who can ONLY play guitar with chord tabs in front of her) could maybe try and play them herself.
I feel I can just play what I hear in my head and find the right sound by using whatever combination of notes match (my head), you know?
My only concern is that down the track when I try to harmonise etc with anything created like this is that it might be a bit more difficult because all the chords aren't in the same key or something...or maybe they are. Or maybe this doesn't even matter.
See? NO IDEA! lol
