I saw a performance recently that involved a rather intriguing piece of equipment. The 9' Steinway was easily rolled into position from an adjacent room by one man on this pneumatic dolly. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it. Just to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks, shortly after the performance the man appeared again and lifted it up and hauled it away in the same manner he brought it in. What is this piece of equipment?

I believe that would be a Grand Transporter.

The one piano transporter that impressed me most is this one, it was also featured on the Frankfurt Messe:

$ 35,000 spare change....

The Grand Transporter must be what I saw. The blurb suggests that it's principal use is to place the grand on the Grand Piano Dolly, rather than to move a piano from room to room. Also it appears you have to pump each hydraulic lift separately. I don't remember seeing that.

That Klavier-Roller is one heck of a piece of equipment. One could get into the serious piano moving business pretty easy with that husky equipment. Very nice.

Actually I showed this thing to a piano mover today.

He said, the time this thing takes to move one piano, they move three.

Fast way to go broke.....
