Hello,

I'm having the piano moved to my house this afternoon but I'm not sure where I should place the piano.

The living is pretty big with valted ceilings. The higher side of the wall is about 16-foot high with no windows. I would think this would be a good spot for the piano. Then I saw people saying the piano should not be placed under a high ceiling. The lower side of the wall is standard 8 feet tall but has a large window (sunlight from the west in the afternoon, we do have some blinds). But then I think it should not be placed near the window.

Too bad I don't have a picure of my living room right now. Otherwise it would be easier for you to see.

Which side I should place the piano? any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Standard replies would be away from the window and away from the HVAC.

I love looking out the window while playing so I have my piano on the interior wall across from the window. (10 feet from the window)

Isn't this a wonderful problem to have?!

PS. My new RX 2 comes Tuesday, can hardly wait!

I placed my piano along an interior wall. There is much less temperature variation and having it stay in tune longer is more important to me.

Keep it fun, and stay motivated!

Interior walls are good, unless you live in a place with little or no temperature variation (Hawaii?). I can't see any particular reason to avoid putting the piano under a high ceiling. My whole house has high ceilings so that would be a bad predicament for me!

High ceilings are not a problem, try to avoid rooms with equal dimensions 14X14 example or rooms with dimensions that can be broken down into multiples eg : 8X16X24 or 9X18X27, you will have horrible standing wave distortion. At all costs avoid CUBES! A high ceiling (esp a slanted high ceiling) that does not violate the above guidelines should be fine.

As to perfect placement, it's up to you but try to stay away from windows with direct sunlight, drafts, AC vents directly over Piano, wall heaters, etc...

I was hoping to be able to see it once you had it delivered. Congratulations.
