Greetings friends,

Come enjoy the unique delights of mariachi!

It's Seagate Concert's premiere concert at its new home, the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla, and it promises to be wonderful. It happens this Sunday, February 16th at 2 pm.

Mariachi Champaña Nevín is a virtuoso ensemble of 6 classically trained musicians plus the delightful Mexican soprano Monica Abrego. Its leader Jeff Nevin, a PhD who teaches horn at Southwestern College, is one of the principal horns for the San Diego Symphony. He composes his own music in the mariachi vernacular.

Two seasons ago, I attended a concert where he performed Baroque music as part of another brass ensemble. It's fun to discover what other types of music classical musicians get involved with.

Several people asked for directions to the Neurosciences Institute. Click this link:

map.

Here's the website for Mariachi Champana Nevin:

Families are welcome -- two adults plus children are admitted for $25, our special rate.

I hope to see many San Diego Forum members and lurkers in the flesh!

P.S. to John C: As soon as this concert is over, I'll post something to move your Oscar Peterson announcement up to the top.

Well, it was a terrific ensemble.
A crew from UniVisionTV covered the concert. There should be something on the news tonight -- for those in the San Diego area.
