I am playing Schroeder in the school play, and I need some jazzy arrangement of Jingle Bells to play (preferably, something similar to the arrangements of "O Christmas Tree" & "The Christmas Song" that are in my Charlie Brown christmas book which for some reason does not have anything about Jingle Bells). Does any one have any ideas. The show is next week.

hope you find a fun arrangement...
if you are comfortable playing off a lead sheet, try fitting the melody over re-harmonized rhythm changes(AABA form). improvise over the circle of 5ths bridge.
[oops, was going to post some chords here, but couldnt line it all up right, sorry]

if you like, i can fax you the chart i use.
have fun
mike

There's a Count Basie version out there somewhere. Really fast swing, and alot of fun to play.

I like the terrorism quote of the day, Samejame. I wish I could see your Peanuts play angst... I happen to love the Peanuts theme song (I know, it actually has a name, but I don't remember it, do you?). I frequently request it when I'm shopping for pianos, but not too many piano salesmen know it and since I can't even play chopsticks myself, I have to defer to the salesman's repertiore. The pianist at Nordstrom didn't know it either. Shouldn't this be required playing for all pianists as a public service to our national psyche? It cheers me right up every time I hear it! Good luck, Shroeder!

Well, I think that I used to love the Peanuts theme, but now that I have to play it 5 or 6 times a day (that's if we do a run-through without backing up) plus however many times somebody asks me to play it, it seems to have lost its novelty. Thank you all for your replies. The show will be next Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, plus we might do one more on Thursday or Friday for the school, but that would be more of a dress rehearsal, although, it probably is a tougher audience. I hope I can figure out something to do by then. The Jingle Bells part doesn't need to be long, it's just clips (like the movie, remember?).
