Dave:

This question has been pursued several times recently, revealing two distinct schools of thought.

1) Figure out mathematically where the notes fall in each beat of three-against-four (some people voice the expression "not very difficult, not very difficult, not very difficult" which seems to help place the three-against-four) and work on it methodically, slowly (painfully?) until you begin to feel the juxtaposition of the two groups.

2) Practice hands separately until each hand has the notes firmly in control, then put the two hands together, intially making sure that the notes on beats 1, 2, 3, and 4 in each hand coincide exactly; the others will fall into place. When you finally get it up to speed, there are of course, only two beats per bar, in groupings of six-against-eight.

Which will work best for you?

Have fun!

Regards,

BruceD
