Thomas Zoells, the owner of the Fazioli franchise in Chicago, is hosting a recital Mar 3. (Alas, I'm in San Antonio for the week, can't attend.) He also mentions a Herbie Hancock recital on the 7th. (Mr. Hancock went to my high school, but I can't say that I've ever met him, nor share any of his musical ability.)

Mr. Graham Scott will be performing a piano recital at Ganz Hall on March 3rd at 7:30 pm on a FAZIOLI piano, model F228 (7’6).

Here are a few reasons why this is important:

* Mr. Scott is a world class pianist who is starting to get heard around Chicago, so you should hear him also. For more information about Mr. Scott, please visit this link: www.grahamscott.co.uk

* The Rudolph Ganz Recital Hall is on the 7th floor of Roosevelt University, 430 South Michigan Avenue, and is one of Chicago’s hidden treasures: a 200 seat recital hall designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and entirely restored to its original glory in the last few years, it has wonderful acoustics and is perfectly suited for piano performance.

* This is a rare opportunity to hear a Fazioli grand piano played in a larger recital hall. If you have heard the piano at the PianoForte series in the Fine Arts Building you know its potential, but in Ganz Hall it will truly shine under the fingers of Mr. Scott.

Below you will find the program for the recital and a short biography of the pianist. The recital is open to the public and entrance is FREE. No RSVP is required.

3. Mr. Herbie Hancock will be performing at Symphony Center on March 7th at 8 pm on a FAZIOLI piano, model F278 (9’2).

Under the heading “Directions in Music”, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker and Roy Hargrove, three stellar musicians, return to Symphony Center following their spectacular 2001 tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Representing nearly three generations of jazz greats, they come together again in the spirit of the original project to explore and discover new pathways of composition and sound in this special performance.
