Hi, Maximyllian! A couple of comments:

1 Although I'm not a purist regarding the use of pedal in Bach, I think that there's WAY too much use of the damper in this case, particularly in the Prelude. She IMO has sufficient technique to present this Prelude convincingly without any pedal whatsoever, and I believe the beauty would be intensified if she otherwise maintained the same phrasings and voicings as she presented here, without any damper shading.

2 I thought the speed of the Fugue was convincing, and I was overall satisfied with the voicings of the subject and countersubject in the various registers. Again, there was IMO unnecessary blurring of the harmonies at several points due to damper pedal use, and would again encourage use of "the fingers" to obtain the various shadings, which actually are written right into the score, at least in my edition (Dover).

3 I believe this is a matter of opinion, but the speed of the Prelude was somewhat too fast, although the pulse was very consistently maintained -- and I would say that's my problem with this tempo: it's a tad TOO relentless in its forward impetus, and becomes tedious in its cumulative effect. I personally would in this case use the modern piano to heighten the dynamic contrasts in the both the Prelude and Fugue, but I'd definitely use as little pedal as possible.

Hi,Tim Adrianson
Greetings from Kazakhstan!
Thank you for the detailed description and your outlook this play. I have to say, that Mary lives in a small provincial town . It has its classes at the College of Music , the second year of study . She took the "silver" on the Republic 2013. I'm tuning this upright piano for about 3 years . This is the best piano that we have. You will not believe , but an educator Mary also noticed the same problem. Namely : " Prelude to a great pedal ! It's bad" Mary will be important to hear your words : " I was overall pleased with the vocals and the subject countersubject in different registers ."
Nor can I disagree with you unnecessary blurring harmonies at several points due to the use of the damper pedal , and again encourage the use of " fingers" . That " . Blurring harmonies "
But I must say that after this record , I felt the " very big pedal " and I made it smaller using screw. Now I must up to Mary to bring her up to your word and hear her reaction. I'll do it now. Thanks for lost time on yours analysis and yours suggestions. Hopefully a new reading of Mary's Bach will " less pedal ."
Sorry for my English .
Sincerely, Max
