Hello all,
I am a new member and just wanted to take this opportunity to say hi.
I recently found this website and I grateful for it. It's good to be able to have contact with people who are as passionate about the piano as I.

Perhaps my background with the piano?
I started on keyboard when I was 10 but like so many of us quit because... it got too hard/ our parents let us etc.

I've now been playing again for a year and am 19 years old. I hired a piano and recently bought a Yamaha upright. I'm studying for the 5th grade exam through the Australian AMEB (Australian Musical Examination Board). I love anything Classical and my favourite pieces to play are Hadyn's Divertimento and Scriabin's Waltz in D flat.

As I'm new and perhaps a little lazy to read every post here, if the regulars here have a few moments to spare I'd love to hear your background with the piano, your favourite composers/pieces etc.

Hi Haydn. I'm new here myself but thought I'd put my story up. I took piano lessons from age 13 to 18 and then quit to go to college. I am now in my mid-20s and really didn't play much until just under 2 years ago when my parents got "us" a piano as a wedding gift. I say "us" because my husband hasn't tried playing yet other than plinking a few notes, but likes to listen to me ... or so he says. I am not currently taking lessons, but can play a lot of things badly, and a few OK. My last recital piece was Debussy's Reverie and it has to be my favorite piece - I'm trying to get it back into decent shape.

welcome! Haydn fans seem rare these days. have you played any Haydn sonatas? i'm thinking of learning one maybe later this year.

See how much you can learn about other people here? For example, I didn't realize that Jerry is so old. (Alright, so I'll be 38 at the end of March. In the meantime, I'm a youthful, spry 37.)

Nice going, Jerry. Now Haydn's going to venture into the CR to see what the fuss is about. Don't do it Haydn! Don't go toward the light! Jerry did once, and now his reputation has been stained after starting a highly controversial thread regarding lib balm addiction.

Stained? Au contraire...my reputation has been elevated. Never before has a post I've made had so many replies, and from some heavy-hitters in the CR, to boot. Yes, I am on my way UP. I will remember you all when I arrive. :rolleyes:
