the intro of the song on this video is just piano and it pretty much sounds how i like music to sound. I was wondering if you guys know any pianists or artists who have a similar erie dark and dissonant style...

and i have no idea what the image is on this, i just picked this video so you could hear the song.

It reminds me a little bit of Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. There are many versions posted on Youtube.

The movie composer, Danny Elfman, has a dark tone to his songs.

It is more of just a "mystery" tone in general that you're going for? I love mysterious music, but not the kind that sounds evil or too dark... just the "light-hearted" mystery stuff. I like the soundtracks to the Nancy Drew Mystery games... they're tons of fun without sounding evil. smile http://digitalstore.herinteractive.com/soundtracks/

Good luck!

The album called Tubular Bells is one long version of the piece. It was used in the film The Exorcist.

Danny Elfman's band, Oingo Boingo was great. And I think that Mike Oldfield played with Zappa, correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah i know elfman, its not really what i'm looking for. i'm a big fan of dark pieces that have strong melody and also have a lot of accidentals and key changes.

i'll track down tubular bells, i really need to see the exorcist, i went to film school for christs sake.
