Hope some kind souls could enlighten me on this.

I have come across many Internet lessons, but I don't seem to be able to tell the differences.

Most people think of a specific 12-bar chord progression when they think of blues. There are many jazz pieces that employ that progression, as well as rock songs. A pure blues song would be one like Sweet Home Chicago, or any song beginning with the words "I woke up this mornin'..." but rock songs such as Be Bop a Lula, Tutti Fruity, or most Chuck Berry songs (such as School Days) also employ that structure. Once your ear recognizes that structure, you will hear it in hundreds of popular songs.

There's also a subtler meaning of "blues" that's less rigid than the chord structure, involving the blues scale. Jazz is often defined as any music that employs blues notes and a swing beat, or Jazz = Blues + Swing.
