Hi folks,

Question regarding the YAMAHA UX16 MIDI Interface... is there some special sauce in this connector or will any MIDI to USB cable do?

Thanks

Well it does a full 16x16 channels and its useful for older keyboards without USB/Firewire connections.

Thanks Dr. P.

Specifically, would there be any difference between that one and this one:

The Yamaha cable is twice the price for me here ($85 vs. $40).

Yeah that one will not work with any Yamaha (and maybe other major brand) keyboards.

I bought a generic one from Amazon UK for 7 or 8 euros (shipping to Spain included) and it seems to work fine. I have a Yamaha P95.

Regards,
Kirikou.

Thanks Kirikou, never even knew those existed. Definitely worth a shot!

After discovering Monoprice I've never been able to buy cables from anyone else... wish they had MIDI!

Huh? It's a USB / MIDI adapter. If it isn't designed too horribly it should work with any keyboard that has 5 pin DIN connectors, no?
