Biegel Plays Tschaikowsky in Bogota on Short Notice
By Naturally Sharp, Inc.
April 21, 2009

Thanks to the technology of Facebook, concert pianist Jeffrey Biegel answered a message to perform Tschaikowsky's Piano Concerto no. 1 on April 24 and 25 with Muhai Tang conducting the Bogota Filarmonica.

When Biegel received the Facebook message from an artist manager in Europe, he was already in Colorado Springs performing Keith Emerson's Piano Concerto with Leroy Anderson's Piano Concerto.

He has not performed the Tschaikowsky concerto since 1999 and did not have the musical score with him. Finding a piano in the hotel, he was able to recall the concerto in two hours and agreed to perform it in Bogota.

These performances mark Mr. Biegel's South American debut, and first collaborations with Maestro Tang.

Note from me...
I happen to be at the same hotel (went to Colorado for the concerts).
Pretty amazing to watch and listen to Jeffrey working out the Tschaikowsky from memory, considering it had been 10 years since he performed it.

The hotel staff and guests were certainly happy for the free concert :-)
